The Basics
Clinical trials (or research studies) are an essential process in discovering new treatments and ways to prevent, reduce the risk of, detect, diagnose, and treat disease. Clinical trials show what does and does not work in people and help determine if the treatment side effects are acceptable to patients when weighed against treatment benefits.
