The IGCS Distinguished Advocacy Award is being presented to Ovarian Cancer Canada (OCC) and the organization’s CEO, Elisabeth Baugh. Elisabeth has dedicated nearly 25 years to helping women with this disease live fuller, better, longer lives. Notably, she launched an award-winning awareness campaign and secured millions in government funding for ovarian cancer research. Together with her colleagues, Elisabeth initiated World Ovarian Cancer Day and subsequently led establishment of the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition, which recently completed the largest-ever survey of the patient experience and developed the Global Ovarian Cancer Charter, a call to action to improve survival and quality of life for all women with ovarian cancer.

Ms. Baugh is the CEO of Ovarian Cancer Canada and the Chair of World Ovarian Cancer Coalition.

Elisabeth Baugh successfully initiated the merger of the only two national ovarian cancer organizations in Canada, amplifying the patient voice and profile of the cause.
