SUMMARY:7th Biennial Meeting of the Asian Society of Gynecologic Oncology
DESCRIPTION:The 7th Biennial Meeting of the Asian Society of Gynecologic Oncology (ASGO 2021) will be held on November 25th to 27th in Bangkok! ASGO was established by leaders of Japanese and Korean gynecologists in consideration of the need for an Asian regional society dedicated to gynecologic cancer\, and held its first meeting in Seoul in 2008. At present\, gynecological oncology societies from 11 countries and regions are participating\, and it has become a truly unified organization. While six biennial meetings and six international workshops have been held so far\, ASGO 2021 is the first biennial meeting to be held outside of Japan and Korea\, which makes it very significant. Furthermore\, ASGO 2021 may be the first ever congress in the history of ASGO\, which is difficult to steer and take measures to combat COVID-19. Now is the time to take pride in the unity of Asian countries and to show the world the development of gynecological oncology in Asia. \n \nVisit the event website to learn more about ASGO 2021: https://asgo2021.org/website/home.php \n

SUMMARY:IGCS 2021
DESCRIPTION:The 2021 IGCS Annual Global Meeting is scheduled to be held in on August 30 – September 2 as a fully virtual meeting. It is out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of our international delegates that we have reached the decision to transition the IGCS 2021 Annual Global Meeting\, initially planned as a hybrid meeting\, to a virtual format only. \nIGCS 2021 has been planned as a hybrid event from the beginning\, with a strong virtual component for our remote delegates. With the IGCS 2021 Annual Global Meeting becoming fully virtual\, you can still meet & network with friends and colleagues from around the globe using the virtual platform and view all the educational sessions and e-posters during the meeting and for 90 days after. \nThe decision came on August 4th from the IGCS leadership after it was determined that it would not be feasible to hold a meeting in person due to the recent changes in travel restrictions preventing many of our international speakers and attendees from traveling to and from Italy. An increasing number of countries are enforcing quarantine before and/or after traveling internationally and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the US has issued a level 3 Travel Health Notice for Italy due to COVID-19\, indicating a high level of cases in the country. \nPlease allow until August 6th to see website updates to igcs2021.com and igcs.org take effect regarding the change to a fully virtual meeting.

SUMMARY:Cervical Cancer Elimination Series
DESCRIPTION:Cervical Cancer Elimination Series – Estimating and Responding to the Suffering of Women with Cervical Cancer: Stimulating Overdue Action\nWednesday\, June 16\, 2021 – 14:00 (UTC/GMT+1:00) \nCervical cancer is one of the gravest threats to women’s well-being and lives worldwide\, despite being a preventable disease. One woman dies from this cancer every two minutes. New data by World Health Organization to be published in June 2021 quantify for the first time that women with cervical cancer typically experience suffering that is more complex and severe than that caused by other serious illnesses. Knowing the most common and severe types of suffering of people affected by cervical cancer\, patients and their primary family caregivers\, is the first step to addressing the horrifying unmet needs\, especially for those living in low- and middle-income countries where access to palliative care remains rare. \nIn this third dialogue in the series on cervical cancer elimination\, held in partnership with the World Health Organization\, implementers\, advocates and civil society organisations working in cancer and HIV are invited to the presentation of this new data and to join an interactive dialogue on taking urgent steps to address the gap through the essential package of palliative care for cervical cancer (EPPCCC). \nTo register and learn about the speakers: https://www.uicc.org/events/cervical-cancer-elimination-series-estimating-and-responding-suffering-women-cervical-cancer-who
