Early Career Research & Publications Network: 2021 Highlights

In this video recap, you'll hear from Dr. Rhonda Farrell (Sr. Network Mentor and IGCS Council Member), Dr. Erick Estrada (a recent graduate of the IGCS Global Curriculum Mentorship Program and Network Member), and us, the Network's Jr. Faculty and Mentors about the virtual workshops that were held this year and learn about the benefits of participating in the network. We are extremely grateful for the participation and collaboration of our network members and look forward to another great year!

Early Career Research & Publications Network

The goal of this network is to provide early career members with a supportive network of peers and mentors to discuss publishing and writing as critical components to career development. The network will also allow group members the opportunity to develop and promote research projects.

This network is open to IGCS members dedicated to the study of gynecologic cancers who are within the first five years of completion of sub-specialty training.

The network will convene via video conference, online discussion boards and in-person meetings at the IGCS Annual Global Meeting.

Joining the Network
Eligible early career members may request to join the network by logging into the IGCS MEMBER CENTER and clicking GROUPS in the top toolbar, then click +Join Group button. A message will be sent to an IGCS staff member who will verify your eligibility and you will receive an approved or denied message, depending on your completion year of training.

Please be sure your graduation year is filled out in your IGCS Member profile as this will determine your eligibility for the group.

IGCS Early Career Research & Publications Facebook Page
In order to easily stay connected, IGCS has introduced the Early Career Facebook page. We hope you consider joining and collaborating with colleagues. Every week, Moderators will post recent articles of interest, podcasts, abstracts, etc. and give everyone the opportunity to discuss, ask questions and share their opinions. In addition, you do not need to be a moderator to start a post, everyone can share relevant, appropriate topics to the group for discussion.
There are two ways to join the Facebook page:
  • Follow this link.
  • Search Facebook:
    • Log in to Facebook.
    • In the search bar, named "Search Facebook" type IGCS - Early Career Research & Publications Network.
    • You will be prompted with two questions. Answer these questions.
    • Wait for approval - if you do not receive approval in 48 hours, please email meghan.anderson@igcs.org.

The volunteer mentors have previous and current experience in career development, mentorship, publishing and scientific presentation. The mentors will communicate regularly with the network to stimulate research ideas, provoke and moderate discussions and connect network members.
