Hospital General San Juan de Dios, is is one of the two major hospitals in the Guatemalan public health system and the only one that provides free gynecological cancer care to the population. It has a total capacity of 940 beds and is considered a center for referral across the country.

Dr. Rene Pareja

Dr. Pareja is a gynecologic oncologist in Colombia. Dr. Pareja was a receipient of the 2008 IGCS Travelling Scholarship and completed a clinical observership at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology and serves on the Senior Editorial Board of the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer. Dr. Pareja is also a member of the IGCS Council as the Central, South and North America representative.
Graduated Fellow

Dr. Erick Estrada completed his residency in OB/GYN at the Hospital General San Juan de Dios in 2013 and was a 2014 IGCS Travelling Scholar. He completed a clinical observership and research training at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas, USA with Dr. Kathleen Schmeler and Dr. Pedro Ramirez. In addition to the fellowship program at Hospital San Juan de Dios, Dr. Estrada is a medical advisor at Novaris Pharmaceutical Company and on faculty at Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala City. He has several research publications and is currently involved in three research studies in collaboration with MD Anderson Cancer Center.
