Dear IGCS Members,

We’re thrilled to share that exciting changes are in the works for the IGCS Early Career Professionals Network—and its members will play a central role in shaping what’s next. I am grateful for the current and past leadership that has been instrumental in growing and engaging this aspect of membership for over four years now.

While nothing is changing just yet, we want to give you a glimpse of what’s coming. Over the next several months, we’ll be restructuring and expanding the network to better reflect the diverse interests, needs, and goals of early-career professionals. The goal is that these changes will mirror many aspects of IGCS within this early career network.

Previously known as the Early Career Research and Publications Network, this group is evolving into a much broader global platform for mentorship, leadership development, education, and connection.

New Governance Structure Underway
One of the most important updates is the creation of a formal governance structure, including an Executive Committee made up of early-career members and elected by early career members. This marks a major shift from how the network was previously operated and is designed to ensure the direction of the network is led by its members.

As we move forward, we may also explore a new name and brand identity to reflect this expanded mission—but no changes will be made without input from network members. For now, we will refer to it as the IGCS Early Career Professionals Network.

Driven by Member Engagement
One of the reasons for this shift is because of the enthusiastic engagement we’ve seen from this network. Member participation has shaped this network into a dynamic and supportive global network of peers committed to growing, leading, and making an impact together.

The IGCS Early Career Professionals Network is truly unique, it’s diverse, international community of young gynecologic oncology professionals. The current WhatsApp group includes nearly 250 participants, and conversations happen daily—members share advice, opportunities, experiences, and support across borders and time zones.

Supported by IGCS Leadership & Staff
IGCS’ President-Elect, Dr. Nadeem Abu-Rustum who has been instrumental in shaping this transformation states "The creation of a formal governance structure, driven by the early-career community itself, marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of this network. This shift will ensure that the voices of the next generation of gynecologic oncology professionals are heard, respected, and reflected in the decisions that shape our collective future."

To support this network and other member-focused activities, IGCS has recently welcomed a dedicated Member Engagement Specialist to the professional team. Ms. Ivana Kolev from Bulgaria will provide strategic input and administrative support to shape IGCS member networks and other initiatives to strengthen member engagement and satisfaction.
