The International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) is preparing for the first Accelerating Cervical Cancer Elimination Strategies Symposium (ACCESS), to be held in Cape Town, South Africa in November 2025.

As part of this effort, IGCS has emailed a survey to all contacts across the African continent. Select contacts and stakeholder groups have also been identified to complete the survey. Unless you have been personally invited, please note that this survey is intended to capture perspectives specifically from stakeholders in Africa.

The survey is brief (5–7 minutes) and covers:

  • National cervical cancer elimination plans or strategies
  • Roles in cervical cancer policy and planning
  • Readiness to advocate for cervical cancer elimination at the country level

Responses will be anonymized and presented only in aggregate, with findings shared during the Cape Town symposium. This dialogue will ensure that African perspectives are at the center of discussions on cervical cancer elimination and that the ACCESS: Africa agenda reflects both opportunities and challenges in the region.

With just five years remaining to achieve the 2030 targets set by the WHO Global Strategy to Eliminate Cervical Cancer, urgent and decisive action is needed. Through the ACCESS Series—a five-year initiative convening global stakeholders—IGCS aims to accelerate progress by highlighting regional priorities and transforming commitments into measurable impact.

By participating, stakeholders across Africa can help advance our shared commitment to equitable, patient-centered cancer care and drive meaningful progress toward eliminating cervical cancer, the first cancer ever targeted for global elimination.
