We are thrilled to share two exciting new initiatives unveiled by IGCS President Greta Dreyer, MD, PhD during the IGCS 2025 Annual Global Meeting in Cape Town — each representing a bold step forward in advancing gynecologic oncology worldwide.
IGCS Expanded Training Initiative IGCS is proud to launch the Expanded Training Initiative — a collective of programs designed to enhance skills, expand training opportunities, and strengthen international collaboration among our members. Building on the success of the IGCS Global Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship, this new initiative responds to member demand for more flexible and accessible training options. The programs—ranging from short surgical courses to observerships and focused research opportunities—will allow healthcare professionals to deepen their expertise, gain hands-on experience, and connect across borders. Each program will launch in phases over the next year, beginning with the Minimally Invasive Surgery Program in partnership with the Nezhat Family Foundation and Christian Medical College. Stay tuned for more details about additional programs and how you can participate in the months ahead.
IGCS Research Committee IGCS is also pleased to announce the formation of a new Research Committee — an important step in advancing global collaboration and innovation in gynecologic cancer research. The committee will:
  • Serve as a hub for research inquiries from members and partners.
  • Develop rare tumor registries to improve data collection and collaboration (including GTD cases and rare cervical, uterine, and ovarian cancers)
  • Identify research priorities aligned with IGCS’ mission and member interests
  • Develop policies and procedures for evaluating research proposals and surveys seeking IGCS endorsement, support, or promotion
By bringing together our diverse and talented membership, the Research Committee will strengthen IGCS’s leadership in the global research landscape and expand opportunities for members to contribute to studies that improve patient outcomes and equity in care. More information about the committee’s structure and opportunities to get involved will be shared soon.
