LAGOS UNVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL (LUTH), LAGOS, NIGERIA
Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), is one of the foremost tertiary hospitals in Nigeria and the West African sub-region. Established in 1961, it is situated in Idi-Araba, in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos state, Southwestern Nigeria, and it provides tertiary healthcare services to more than 25 million people who reside in the state. It is one of the largest tertiary health institutions in Nigeria with over 760-bed capacity and the affiliated Teaching Hospital of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
LUTH is a Center of Excellence for Oncology care in Nigeria with vibrant Gynecologic, Surgical, Pediatric, Hematologic, Clinical, and Radiation Oncology services. Her highly dedicated and skilled workforce provides specialist-led multidisciplinary care for all types of cancers. The Gynae-oncologic unit offers cancer screening and prevention, surgical and non-surgical treatment, and palliative care services to women with Gynecologic pre-invasive diseases and cancers, in Lagos and its environs. The NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre (NLCC) in LUTH is home to the best state-of-the-art equipment for cancer treatments, post-treatment consultation, and supportive therapies in the West African sub-region. It has a functional 3D high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy machine to treat Gynecologic cancers with high accuracy and efficiency. In addition, it has Varian Halcyon and VitalBeam linear accelerators for external beam radiation treatment.
Local Supervisor

Dr. Rose Ihuoma Anorlu
Rose Ihuoma Anorlu, MD, MPH, FMCOG, FWACS, FRCOG is a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology who has dedicated her entire career to this field in her home country, Nigeria. She has held various positions, including a professorship at the University of Lagos, an Honorary Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital,
and served as the head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the head Gynecological Oncology and Pathological Studies Unit of the two institutions.
A graduate of the University of Ghana Medical School , Professor Anorlu had her specialist training at the Lagos Universty Teaching Hospital and the Birmingham Maternity Hospital/ Birmigham and Midlands Hospital for Women, Birmingham, U.K. She holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Lagos
Throughout her career, Professor Anorlu has mentored and supervised the dissertation projects and grant applications of over 50 physicians in obstetrics and gynecology during their fellowships with the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West African College of Surgeons. These projects have primarily focused on gynecological cancers, particularly cervical cancer. She has published over 140 scientific works, including seven textbook chapters. Notably, more than 60% of her publications are centered on her areas of interest: cervical cancer prevention and treatment, as well as other gynecological cancers. She has presented numerous papers on cervical cancer at both national and international conferences and has collaborated with partners from academia, government, and industry, both domestically and internationally.
Fellow

Dr. Adeyemi Okunowo
Dr. Adeyemi A. Okunowo is an Associate Professor at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, and an Honorary Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist with special interest in Gynecological cancer management at the Oncology and Pathological Studies (OPS) Unit of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria.
He had his undergraduate medical training at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria, and his postgraduate Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at the same University. He completed his residency training at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, and he is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West African College of Surgeons in the Faculty of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
He had a post-residency training in Gynecologic Oncology at the Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, India. He is currently an IGCS Fellow in the Global Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program and recently completed a three-month clinical observership and research training in Gynecologic Oncology at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Division of Gynecologic Oncology, University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Florida, USA.
He is passionate about providing quality evidence-based care for women with Gynecologic cancers and is keenly interested in Gynecologic cancer research. His research interest is in Gynecologic cancer epidemiology, prevention, screening, early detection, and outcomes.

Dr. Ephraim Ohazurike
Dr. Ephraim Ohazurike is an alumnus of the prestigious College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. He had his residency training at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
He is a fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He practices as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
He was awarded International Gynaecological Cancer Society (IGCS) scholarship to Stellenbosch University/ Tygerberg Academic Hospital Capetown South Africa in 2016. He was also awarded European Society of Gynaecological Cancer (ESGO) scholarship to Hammersmith Hospital. London in 2019. He is member of International Gynaecological Cancer Society (IGCS), European Society Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) and Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Nigeria (SOGON). He was a participant and presenter in many international gynaecological
cancer conferences.
He seeks to see a world where no woman dies of preventable gynaecological cancer through the provision of continuum of care.

Dr. Nomonde Mbatani

Dr. Matthrew Schlumbrecht
Dr. Schlumbrecht is a Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami, Florida. He serves as the Director for the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program; Medical Co-Director for Research Operations, Cancer Survivorship Program; Co-Director of Cancer Control and Prevention for Gynecologic Oncology; and Translational Co-lead for the Gynecologic Oncology Site Disease Group. He also serves as the Vice Chair of Global and Community Health in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences. In this capacity he acts as the international mentor for five international gynecologic oncology fellows in Nigeria and Bahamas through the International Gynecologic Cancer Society, for which he is the co-chair for the International Mentor and Local Supervisor Resource Committee.
