Kevin & Heidi’s Bloodies for a Cause: IGCS World of Hope

This year marks the grand finale of Kevin & Heidi’s Bloodies for a Cause, a beloved Naperville tradition hosted by longtime friends of IGCS CEO, Mary Eiken. Since its start, this spirited gathering has brought the community together over friendship, generosity, and a good Bloody Mary – all while raising funds for causes close to the hosts’ hearts.

In 2019, the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) was honored to be chosen as the beneficiary of the fundraiser. We are thrilled to be included once again in this final year, alongside other worthy charities that Kevin and Heidi have supported over the years.

Cause: The International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) World of Hope Development Fund

The Problem We’re Tackling
Every year, more than a million women around the world are diagnosed with gynecologic cancers — including ovarian, uterine, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers. In many parts of the world, women face these diagnoses without access to trained specialists, proper equipment, or even basic cancer screening. The result? Treatable cancers become deadly simply because care is out of reach.

Who We Are
The International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) is a global nonprofit dedicated to changing that. We unite doctors, nurses, researchers, advocates, and survivors across more than 130 countries to share knowledge, improve care, and close the gap between those who have access to expert treatment and those who don’t.

About the World of Hope Development Fund
Proceeds from Bloodies for a Cause will help fuel our World of Hope Development Fund, which focuses on:

  • Expanding current mentorship and training programs
  • Extending our educational reach in low- and middle-income countries
  • Pursuing the elimination of cervix cancer

Through these programs, IGCS connects global expertise with local care — so women, no matter where they live, have a fighting chance.

Why It Matters

  • In some countries, there’s just 1 gynecologic cancer specialist for thousands of women.
  • A woman’s chance of surviving cancer shouldn’t depend on where she lives.
  • With the right training and resources, more women live, families stay whole, and communities thrive.
  • Together, we are closing the gap between those who have expert care and those who don’t.

Impact in Action

  • Your support connects doctors in underserved regions to world-class mentors, supporting the development of local champions and expertise.
  • One donation can help train a specialist who will treat thousands of women over her career.
  • When women survive cancer, they return to care for their families, educate their children, and strengthen their communities.

Thank you for your support.
