Accelerating the Elimination of Cervical Cancer Through the Power of the IGCS Membership,
International Collaboration and Local Convening

IGCS' Bold Vision: By 2030, every high-burden country will have a national cervical cancer elimination strategy actively being implemented.

To support achieving this vision, IGCS is hosting an annual regional symposia; maintaining a global map of national cervical cancer elimination plans in the public domain and an online resource hub to centralize knowledge and best practice resources.

The ACCESS Series
The series of IGCS Accelerating Cervical Cancer Elimination Strategies Symposia is designed to mobilize IGCS members and partners to accelerate progress toward cervical cancer elimination by aligning global expertise and local implementation know-how.

Launched in 2025, IGCS will host an ACCESS symposium at the Annual Global Meeting through 2030, with each event focusing on the specific challenges, opportunities, and policy environments of the host region. Through cross-sector dialogue and shared learning, ACCESS supports countries in advancing coordinated, context-specific approaches aligned with the WHO 90:70:90 targets for elimination by 2030.

Global Map of Progress and Resource Hub

IGCS is partnering with the International Cancer Control Partnership (ICCP) to build on the wealth of resources dedicated to national cancer control planning since 2012 and recognized by national cancer program leads worldwide.

What’s new:

  • Global map of progress, which IGCS pledges to keep current with national cervical cancer elimination strategies in the public domain.
  • An update of resources and tools annually and a call to IGCS members to share what has helped you across the care continuum of cervical cancer prevention and control, add to the hub over time.

You can submit your resources, tools or new plans directly to the ICCP. If you have questions or comments, please email igcs@igcs.org and we will connect you with the project lead.

ACCESS Africa held in Cape Town November 2025

The first regional symposia of the IGCS ACCESS initiative was held in Cape Town at the 2025 IGCS Annual Global Meeting. This symposium (ACCESS Africa) focused on national and regional strategies for African countries, gathering local stakeholders.

ACCESS Africa was moderated by Professor Isaac Adewole, gynecologic oncologist, former Nigerian Minister of Health, and Chair of Nigeria’s National Task Force on Cervical Cancer Elimination and facilitated by Julie Torode, PhD, global cancer prevention and policy specialist.

The symposium brought together country representatives, clinicians, policymakers, and partners to advance coordinated national action across the full care continuum—HPV vaccination, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care—while addressing fragmented and siloed efforts. Through shared learning and cross-country dialogue, ACCESS Africa served as a unifying session for local and international stakeholders to discuss the development and implementation of national cervical cancer elimination plans.

ACCESS North America coming to Montréal October 2026

The next ACCESS symposium, ACCESS: North America, will take place in Montréal, Canada, during the IGCS Annual Global Meeting, October 1–3, 2026.

While North America is characterized by strong health systems and high-resource settings, cervical cancer elimination remains challenged by persistent inequities in access to prevention, screening, treatment, and follow-up care. This symposium will provide a forum for translating scientific evidence and clinical expertise into effective public policy, with a focus on the 90-70-90 targets and addressing gaps that continue to leave certain populations behind.

More information will be shared about ACCESS: North America as it becomes available. In the meantime, please visit igcsmeeting.com to learn more about the 2026 IGCS Annual Global Meeting where the symposium will be held.

Supported by the IGCS World of Hope Development Fund

IGCS ACCESS is made possible through the support of the IGCS World of Hope Development Fund, which fuels our most ambitious initiatives to expand access to gynecologic cancer care worldwide. Your annual contribution to this fund allows us to fulfill our philanthropic vision: bringing resources, expertise, and sustainable strategies to regions and nations as they work towards the elimination of cervical cancer.

Strategic Alignment
These efforts align directly with IGCS’s three Strategic Pillars:

Enhancing the member experience through shared knowledge and resources.

Advancing equitable, patient-centered care by supporting implementation in high-burden regions.

Expanding global impact by accelerating progress toward the elimination of the first cancer ever targeted for worldwide eradication.
