Exciting Changes Ahead for the IGCS Early Career Professionals Network
We’re thrilled to share that exciting changes are underway for the IGCS Early Career Professionals Network—and its members will play a central role in shaping what’s next.
For more than four years, this network has grown into a dynamic, global community of early-career gynecologic oncology professionals. Thanks to the dedication of current and past leaders, it has become a vibrant space for collaboration, learning, and peer support. Now, as the network continues to evolve, we’re preparing to take the next big step forward.
A Broader Mission and Structure
Previously known as the Early Career Research and Publications Network, this group is expanding into a broader platform for mentorship, leadership development, education, research, and connection. Over the coming months, we’ll be introducing a formal governance structure and other enhancements to better reflect the diverse interests and goals of early-career professionals around the world.
One of the most significant updates is the creation of the Early Career Executive Committee—made up entirely of early-career members and elected by their peers. This marks a major shift from how the network previously operated and ensures that its direction will be guided by those it serves.
“The creation of a formal governance structure, driven by the early-career community itself, marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of this network,” said Dr. Nadeem Abu-Rustum, IGCS President-Elect. “This shift will ensure that the voices of the next generation of gynecologic oncology professionals are heard, respected, and reflected in the decisions that shape our collective future.”
Driven by Member Engagement
The transformation of this network is inspired by its members. Nearly 250 participants currently engage in daily conversation through the network’s WhatsApp group—sharing advice, opportunities, and experiences across borders and time zones. This energy and connection are what make the IGCS Early Career Professionals Network truly unique.
