Dear IGCS Members and Friends, As International Women’s Day approaches on March 8, it offers a moment to reflect on how progress for women is achieved—and why collective action matters. Since 1911, International Women’s Day has stood as a call to advance equality, opportunity, and dignity for women and girls. Each year, a theme captures the world’s attention including "Accelerate Action" (2025) and "Inspire Inclusion" (2024).
IWD 2026 Theme: Give to Gain The 2026 global theme, “Give to Gain,” reminds us that generosity is not a subtraction, but a multiplier. At IGCS, this spirit of generosity is at the heart of our work. Our members give in many ways: mentoring colleagues across borders, sharing clinical expertise, advancing research, advocating for women’s health, and supporting programs financially. What we gain is stronger collaboration, better data, expanded access to care—and tangible improvements in the lives of women affected by gynecologic cancers worldwide.
A Substantial Gain: IGCS Research Committee A recent example of Give to Gain in action is the formation of the new IGCS Research Committee. Guided by member expertise and supported through the IGCS World of Hope Donors in 2025, the committee has begun developing a gynecologic rare tumor registry. This will be a project that all IGCS members can contribute to by sharing data and expertise. In this short video, IGCS Board Members, Dr. Alexander Olawaiye and Dr. Nadeem Abu-Rustum offer an inside look at the Research Committee, explaining why it was formed and how it embodies the values of our community.
Will you Give to Gain? This International Women’s Day, we invite you to give a gift to the IGCS World of Hope Fund. Thanks to the generosity of our donors in 2025, IGCS Research Committee is a reality. Imagine what we could achieve with even more resources. Let’s make this week leading up to International Women’s Day on March 8 a powerful week of giving—because when we give, we all gain.
Thank you for your generosity and everything it makes possible. With appreciation, Mary Eiken Chief Executive Officer International Gynecologic Cancer Societ
