January: Cervical Cancer Awareness Month
Many nations recognize the month of January as a time to raise awareness about cervical health, cervical cancer prevention, screening, and vaccination. IGCS recognizes January as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
February 4: World Cancer Day
A global day to raise awareness and promote action to reduce the global impact of all cancers, including cervical cancer.
March 4: International HPV Awareness Day
A day to spread awareness about human papillomavirus (HPV), the leading cause of cervical cancer, and the importance of vaccination.
April 24-30: International Vaccine Week
This week focuses on the role of vaccines in global health, including raising awareness about the importance of immunization in preventing various diseases, including HPV (Human Papillomavirus). HPV vaccines are crucial in preventing cervical cancer, which is linked to certain strains of HPV.
May 28: International Day of Action for Women's Health
This day promotes women’s rights and health, offering an important platform to address health issues such as cervical cancer prevention and the need for access to HPV vaccines and screening services for women.
September: Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month
Focuses on all gynecologic cancers, including cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers, highlighting prevention, screening, and treatment.
November 17: International Day of Action for Cervical Cancer Elimination
Commemorates the WHO's global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem.
December 1: World AIDS Day
Women living with HIV are at a much higher risk of developing cervical cancer. This day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of this link and advocate for integrated care, including HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening for women with HIV.
