IGCS and NCCN Announce Global Partnership to Advance Gynecologic Cancer Guidelines The International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) have entered into a new collaboration to expand access to evidence-based clinical guidance that reflects the realities of gynecologic cancer care in different regions of the world.
Through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), IGCS and NCCN will explore opportunities to develop and implement regional adaptations of NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) for gynecologic cancers, working alongside local experts and professional societies. The collaboration builds on work already underway in the Philippines, where IGCS supported a partnership between NCCN and the Society of Gynecological Oncologists of the Philippines (SGOP) to adapt guidelines for cervical, ovarian, and uterine cancers to the Philippine clinical environment. Local specialists helped ensure the recommendations account for differences in available resources, regulatory environments, health systems, clinical practice, and patient needs.
From the Philippines to a Broader Global Model The Philippines initiative provides a model for how internationally recognized, evidence-based recommendations can be combined with regional expertise to create guidance that is practical and relevant in local settings. Under the new MOU, IGCS and NCCN will explore opportunities to expand this approach to additional countries and regions, including areas in Asia and Latin America. IGCS’ Strategic Alliance Partner Program will provide an important network for identifying local needs, engaging regional experts, and supporting the adaptation and implementation of clinical guidance. For gynecologic oncology professionals, the partnership could create new opportunities to contribute regional expertise to guideline adaptation and, as the initiative expands, increase access to evidence-based guidance designed for the environments in which they practice. For patients and health systems, the long-term goal is to help bridge the gap between globally recognized standards and the practical realities of delivering gynecologic cancer care across diverse settings.
