A New Chapter for the Early Career Network

Stepping into the role of President of the IGCS Early Career Network (ECN), I do so with tremendous excitement, gratitude, and a strong sense of responsibility. It is an honor to represent a global community of early career professionals who are passionate about advancing gynecologic cancer care, research, education, and collaboration around the world.

As a gynecologic oncologist at Einstein Hospital Israelita, São Paulo, Brazil, my career has been shaped by mentors and colleagues who also share a commitment to improving outcomes for women with gynecologic cancers. I am incredibly proud to bring my experience and perspective to this role and to work alongside the talented professionals who make the IGCS ECN such a dynamic and important part of our Society.

What excites me most about the ECN is the opportunity to connect with the next generation of gynecologic cancer professionals across countries, disciplines, and stages of their early careers. Although our healthcare systems, resources, and professional experiences may differ, we share a common commitment to our patients and to advancing the field. By bringing our perspectives together, we have an extraordinary opportunity to learn from one another and create meaningful change.

 

Priorities for the Early Career Network

As I begin my term as President, I am very excited to work with the other members of the ECN Executive Committee, Sara Moufarrij, President Elect and Joanna Kacperczyk-Bartnik, our Secretary-Treasurer. We have already been meeting and getting started on our work! One of our greatest priorities is to continue building a strong, engaged, and truly global and multidisciplinary network. It is also a privilege for me to have a voice on the IGCS Board of Directors, as this allows me to represent all of you.

Another important goal will be to grow and diversify our membership and strengthen our global partnerships. We hope to deepen our connections with fellowship and training programs, regional societies, young professional organizations, and other groups that share our commitment to supporting early career professionals. It is especially important that we continue creating opportunities for members from regions and disciplines that may historically have had fewer opportunities for international engagement.

 

 

Creating a Network That Belongs to Its Members

Most importantly, I want the Early Career Network to be shaped by all of you, our members. Currently, there is an education survey where you can help prioritize education with the network. Please take the time to click here and complete this important survey.

Soon we will be asking you to get involved by participating in a committee or project, sharing your research, connecting with a colleague from another part of the world, or simply sharing your ideas with us. For now, continue attending ECN programs, especially at the IGCS Annual Global meeting in Montreal.

I wanted to personally thank our current Junior Faculty for the time and work they have committed to the ECN. You have gotten us so far and I hope you will stay engaged. There is tremendous potential ahead of us, and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together. Thank you for being part of the IGCS Early Career Network and for the work you do every day to improve the lives of women affected by gynecologic cancers around the world.
