The Gynecologic Oncology Global Curriculum and Mentorship Program is being implemented at two institutions in Ethiopia: Black Lion Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College, both located in Addis Ababa. The hospitals are affiliated with Addis Ababa University’s School of Medicine, is the country’s largest general public hospital.

Local Supervisors

Dr. Malede Biara Fanta graduated the Mentorship and Training Program in 2023 and now serves as a local supervisor.

Dr. Bethel Dereje graduated the Mentorship and Training Program in 2021 and now serves as a local supervisor. She is an OB/GYN at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College in Addis Ababa. Dr. Dereje completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Addis Ababa University where she was a lecturer and Assistant Dean. Following her studies, Dr. Dereje taught both undergraduate and postgraduate students and served as coordinator of the undergraduate program for three years.

Dr. Habib Mohammed Ahmed is a Medical Doctor and Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology, currently serving as a senior fellow in the Gynecologic Oncology program at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Jimma University Medical Center in Jimma City, Ethiopia, in 2014/15, followed by a specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2019 from the same institution.

From 2019 to 2023, Dr. Ahmed worked as a generalist in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wollega University Hospital in Nekemte Town, East Wollega, gaining four years of clinical experience. During his tenure at Wollega University Hospital, he was actively involved in academic and clinical activities, community service, and research, including writing case reports.

Dr. Aaga Wakgari Edossa is a Medical Doctor and Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology, currently serving as a senior fellow in the Gynecologic Oncology Program at St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 

He graduated from University of Gondor, College of Health Science and Medical Science in 2011. He earned a specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2017 from Jimma University. 

After graduating medical school, he worked as a General Practitioner at Adventist Hospital. He then joined Wallega University College of Health Sciences as a Lecturer.
